Potensi dan Tantangan Pemulung Menuju Ekonomi Sirkular di Kota Jambi

Waste pickers in Jambi city reduce solid waste by collecting and sorting recycled at the ‘Solid Temporary Shelters’ or Tempat Pembuangan Sementara (TPS). However, most cannot improve their performance due to challenges confronting lack of attention from government public. This research identified quantified collected marketed individual collectors ‘pengepul’. Convenience sampling methods with literature reviews, questionnaires, interviews were carried out this study. Most respondents male pickers, 67%, women, 33% (n=100). The average daily collection rate is 10.43 kg/day. For female waste, are 7.92 kg/day (waste category: plastic bottles, cardboard, wastepaper), an estimated recycling 0.09%-0.89%. Meanwhile, have sales 2-5.5 tons/month, 1.5%. value could be more optimal, impacting income Rp. 581,250/month which showed that market neither profitable nor socially protected. findings help develop a pickers' integrated system implementation circular economy.
